Tai Lyn Sandhu

Hi! I’m Tai Lyn Sandhu, a 17-year-old filmmaker, activist, writer, and performer from Queens, New York City. I will be graduating from the Professional Performing Arts School as a part of the inaugural Film major class in June, and will be attending the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts in the fall, pursuing a BFA in Film & Television Production. I have directed, written, and edited several short films, including Point de Départ, which was named one of the top 10 best drama high school short films of 2023. I am also currently in post-production for my senior thesis film Dreamweaver, a Satanic Panic thriller. I am currently an intern at the Museum of the Moving Image, the largest film archive in the US. As a screen actress, I have guest starred in shows like Law & Order, as well as feature film, national commercials, and web series. On stage, I have enjoyed playing such roles as Natalie in Next to Normal, Kate McGowan in Titanic, and Evelyn Nesbit in Ragtime. My activism spans many different causes, but I have taken chief roles as the Lead Youth Organizer for the Writer’s Guild of America strikes over the summer as well as the National Workshop Director of Teens for Press Freedom. My directorial influences include David Lynch, Sofia Coppola, Stanley Kubrick, Quentin Tarantino, Gregg Araki, Darren Aronofsky, Spike Lee, and Todd Haynes.
